Ignition rectifier unit has a rectification function to control a flow of an electric current for ignition that occurred with AC generator. Circuit diagram of Ignition rectifier unit.
A current flows through D4 or D3 from AC generator, and go through D2, D6, D7. When there is no spark for any of the cylinders or one cylinder, the trouble can be caused by ignition rectifier unit. A test of this unit checks continuity and shutdown conditions of each code.
Step 1. Measure resistance between the Black-White lead and the Blue, White and Green leads, one at a time, using the Rx10 ohmmeter range.
| Connect to + | Connect to - | R x 10 = Value |
|---|---|---|
| BlackWhite | Blue | I20 — 35 Ω |
| BlackWhite | Green | I20 — 35 Ω |
| BlackWhite | White | 75 — 250 Ω |
| Blue | BlackWhite | ∞ (no reading) |
| Green | BlackWhite | ∞ (no reading) |
| White | BlackWhite | ∞ (no reading) |
Step 2. Measure resistance between the Black-White lead and each Light-Green wire in turn, using the Rx10 ohmmeter range.
| Connect to + | Connect to - | R x 10 = Value |
|---|---|---|
| BlackWhite | Light Green | ∞ (no reading) |
| Light Green | BlackWhite | 25 — 250 Ω |
